God is still writing our story and we are writing with Him. So as you will notice, our website is a work in progress. Our story is unfolding, and so is our understanding of who God is to us, what He has called us to, and who we are in Him. For now, what follows is our best attempt to express what is truly important to us. Our heart The heart of Transformational Leadership Centre has never been about running courses or putting on events. Rather it is about responding to the Father’s invitation to know true life. Our desire is to create a safe place, a staging post where leaders from every walk of life may come in whatever state they find themselves, to find sustenance for their journey and encounter Christ as Life. For it is to the degree that we experience Christ living through us, that we are empowered to fulfil our God given destiny, and discover what Jesus meant when he spoke of ‘abundant life’. Our Journey So Far As a ministry our story began in 2002 when a small team formed with great expectations, great vision and a sense that God was leading us to a ministry location, with a building to use. And we were ready to go! Little did we know! Larry Crabb writes in The Safest Place on Earth that, “Christianity remakes our dreams before fulfilling them.” It’s evidenced in many familiar stories of the heroes of our faith – in scripture and in history. Our story has been no different. The journey of “re-making” led us along the road of wilderness, obscurity, dashed hopes, disappointment, finding God in the dark places of being misunderstood, not always having understanding ourselves, but learning to trust despite our circumstances. It was certainly never easy and often not pleasant but it was deeply transforming, and so much of who we are today was born out of these experiences. We are deeply grateful for the ruthless mercy of God’s wisdom in leading us this way. We walk it still – perhaps with a little more joy these days! In 2006 we moved to Sussex and began running a regular programme of events. These enable us to share with others that which we are passionate about, and know the thrill of the beginning of the fulfilment of a dream. Our vision is for A place where …. … we have come to know that it is in Christ that we find our home, and so are able to offer others a place where they too may come home. …it is safe to touch the deepest wounds, the deepest fears and the deepest questions, knowing that we are free to do so without judgement, criticism and rejection. ….we may find our distorted images of God restored to a true likeness of the God who is the wild lover of our souls. …we can allow God to deconstruct the shallowness of our faith to this point and then rebuild us in Christ. … we are free to know that brokenness is not just an experience, but a way of life, and thus we embrace our humanity and allow ourselves to rest upon the sufficiency of Jesus, confessing that apart from Him I can do nothing. … leaders are formed, under the tutelage of Jesus, who know what it is to be their true selves in Christ and then see God do through them the stuff of the impossible. A gathering of people who… … understand that they are free to walk in a new identity in Christ, and who are committed to knowing others according to this new identity (and not by our old nature 2 Cor 5:16). For we believe and hold fast to the truth that Christ died for all and no one need any longer be defined by their sinfulness. … are committed to journeying together in brokenness, honestly facing up to areas of failure, shame, inadequacy and insecurity, yet celebrating in the midst of that, the life that we have been given in Christ Jesus. … see servanthood as the true mark of a disciple, and are able to serve with joy and freedom for we have discovered that within us lies the true nature of a servant. … acknowledge that leadership is not defined and exercised by position, role, achievement, external success, but through inner transformation as the Holy Spirit works in our lives to appropriate the work of the Cross. It will be evidenced through unconditional love and godly influence, not status and performance. … will nurture and foster silence and stillness, knowing that true life proceeds from the still centre of our spirit in union with Christ. … long to champion Kingdom adventure and dance with the Triune God!
